George Formby Senior's death location (4th October 1875 to 8th February 1921)

Here I am at "Hillcrest" where George Formby Senior lived and died (George Junior was a teenager when the family moved here.) It's been a boutique hotel but on the day I visited the whole place was locked up and vacant. Someone told me it's now used as offices so, as it was a Sunday afternoon, it was unlikely anyone would be there.

London Road was quite busy that Sunday afternoon. The place was empty though so there were no odd looks as I took a few photographs. I walked round the back of the building to see if there were any signs of life but I didn't see a soul. I looked up at the front upstairs windows guessing George suffered a painful death of coughing up blood in bed.

It was good to see the blue plaque here but the dates on it refer to the better-known George Junior. If it hadn't been for George Senior we'd never have had George Junior. After the former died young George saw someone doing his dad's act for a living and decided he'd do a better job himself.

Did George die in the bedroom at the front?

Both George's are buried together at Warrington Cemetery...
