Michael Jackson at The Lanesborough hotel

The Lanesborough is the most expensive hotel in London. It is a favourite of celebrities, including Madonna and Leonardo DiCaprio. It provides a 3-to-1 staff to guest ratio, 24-hour butler service and there’s a cigar lounge. Michael Jackson stayed here often and he was staying here when he announced his final concert residency at the O2 Arena in March 2009.

It was originally built in 1719 as the private residence of Viscount Lanesborough but later became the original St. George's Hospital in 1733. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts purchased and refurbished the delapidated building in 1991, opening the hotel as The Lanesborough.

Michael stayed he many times including his 2009 press conference for the "This Is It" concerts. Fans would been seen waiting outside to catch a glimpse of him during the 1990s and 2000s. The hotel entrance was a hotspot for "meet and greets," where he frequently greeted adoring fans. The last time he stayed was in March 2009 but he died three months later aged 50.
