Grave - Bobby Dykins (31st January 1918 to June 1965)

John Albert "Bobby" Dykins was the partner of Julia Lennon. Seven years after her death he died in a car crash aged 47. I'm not sure if this is a coincidence but the headstones face one another.

Julia started courting him a year after she gave birth to Victoria (after a dalliance with a sailor). He worked at the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool as a wine steward and it's thought she was attracted to his access to rationed goods like. He had a bad temper and could be violent when inebriated. John nicked named him "Twitchy" because of a nervous tic/cough. The couple had two daughters together - Julia and Jackie.

Bobby and Julia didn't marry (Julia never divorced her first husband Alf) but "lived in sin." Later on Bobby managed several bars in Liverpool which allowed Julia to stay at home and look after their two daughters. John often visited and stayed overnight at their home (he gave John one shilling/week pocket money for doing odd jobs.) John and Paul McCartney would rehearse in the bathroom of the house where the acoustics "sounded like a recording studio".

Sadly was killed in a car crash at the bottom of Penny Lane (John was not told about it for months.)
