Marcel Neville King (4th January 1958 to 5th October 1995)

Here I am in the Catholic Section of Southern Cemetery on the outskirts of Manchester. Marcel had been part of the soul Manchester group Sweet Sensation (their big catchy hit was “Sad Sweet Dreamer”.) The band found success after winning talent show New Faces.

By the 1980’s the group had petered out and Marcel tried to start a solo career with Factory Records. However he died of a brain haemorrhage at 37. Sadly his 19 year old son didn’t long either, being shot dead in a gang shootout.
