Looking For Crabs

When I was in Scarborough I was strolling on the beach on the North Bay and saw a young girl walking up and down the beach with a bucket. This innocent sight would make for a painting.  On the second picture you can see the photo I taped to the cupboard door.

I took the photos secretly because I didn’t want to get beaten to a pulp by her parents. The painting was a little boring when I stepped back from it – all that sea and sand - so I added a few items: a boat, lighthouse and some rocks. I also added a small hat on the girl’s head as I struggled to get her face right and a hat would put it in shade.
