On 17th December 1914 a flotilla of German cruisers and
destroyers bombarded Hartlepool and Scarborough. Ten British warships chased
them away but a 120 people died and 500 were injured. Thankfully some photos
were taken of the bomb damage to so I had a stroll around town to see if the
buildings still existed. Some were ruined completely and no longer exist but
the odd rogue bomb caused repairable damage.
On a long
weekend on the coast I thought I’d stroll around Scarborough to see if I could
identify some of the buildings as they are today.
