Slipping Away

One of my favourite songs is "Slipping Away" from the Rolling Stones’s Steel Wheels album. Sadness streaks through it but sometimes you just want to wallow in sadness don’t you? I suppose I could have put a Phil Collins album on.

The title came into my mind as the painting took form. This man is caressing his beloved while she slowly slips away into the big black abyss. I did a few years ago when experimenting with flesh tones and would do it so differently now. Nonetheless I thought I would put it on here before it disappears into the attic never to be seen again.

I often paint while I’m watching television and eating. I seemed to be scoffing all the way through this one.
