The Face At The Door

This is what I came up with after twelve years without painting. I had been down to London for a long weekend and been in The National Portrait Gallery. I had seen a close-up painting of a face and it stuck in my mind.

Back at home I brought a canvas down from the attic and sketched something out and painted it while watching television. Mmmm…came out better than I expected, firstly because I had not painted for a long time and second because I wasn’t sure how to mix colours properly. It’s a bit bright and gaudy but not too embarrassing. At least you can tell it’s a woman (or transvestite, I suppose.)

I sold that wooden chest on ebay for £24 (in photo of me holding cup off coffee.)
